Eligibility:

  •   M.Sc. (Ag.) with 55 per cent marks (50 per cent for SC/ST candidates) in Agriculture Extension / Extension Education / Home Science Extension / Dairy Extension / Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension / Fisheries Extension / Agricultural Communication/ Development Communication / Agricultural Extension and Communication
  •  Master’s degree in any branch of Agricultural Sciences or allied fields (with bridge course)  
Programme overview
Agriculture Extension is the engine of agricultural development through transferring and training of advances in the production technologies to farmers and other stakeholders of agriculture sector. The extension system should not only transfer the knowledge and information to farmers but it should facilitate application of knowledge in field. The extension system is changing in India. The Open and Distance Learning is a new entry in the country’s extension system and can play an important role in extension activity. The Ph.D. Programme seeks to conduct research studies to increase access to knowledge and technologies for development in agriculture.
 
Objectives:
The objectives of the programme are to:
 
  • promote the open and distance learning in agriculture through postgraduate programmes in Agricultural Extension;
  • develop the human resource capabilities of research and extension personnel of national agricultural research and development systems;
  • popularize the application of ICTs in agricultural extension management system; and
  • develop model of open distance education in offering post graduate and research programmes in agriculture education.
